    Wellness & Executive Burnout Programme

The state of the world at the moment is causing increased anxiety and concerns, not only for executive professionals who may experience increased burnout resulting in physical and emotional fatigue but also for anyone who feels the demands from their high-impact lifestyles, exacerbated by the continual pressures of life. This can have a major effect on your general health and wellness.

We have the perfect solution! Reclaim your life and find the wellness that you deserve, while restoring your purpose and identity; relaxing in our exclusive treatment and recovery centre. To cope with future challenges, we know that a balanced lifestyle and healing incorporate not only your physical health, but also your mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.

All you may need is time to reset and gain perspective for the way forward, with the guidance of our experienced professional therapeutic team. Take the time to focus on your personal growth in the comfort of indulgent luxury, and make sure that you heal while the world does too.

We offer intensive 7, 10, 14 and 21-day Detox and Wellness Programmes, completely tailored to your individual needs. Upon admission, you will undergo a psychosocial assessment where we will identify your unique therapeutic requirements and then begin creating a programme around them.

Our multidisciplinary team is extensively qualified and experienced in the areas of burnout, dual diagnosis and addiction, and has a holistic approach designed to ensure restoration of your mind, body and soul. We are confident we will be able to equip you with all the tools you need in order to lead a fulfilling, sustainable life in recovery.

Intensive emotional therapy is complimented by stimulating group sessions, and we utilise a combination of the following therapeutic approaches:

    Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) is an advanced psychotherapy approach, frequently used in the treatment of dual diagnosis. Although DBT achieved prominence for the treatment of personality disorders, it has been successfully adapted for treating those struggling with emotional regulation, interpersonal conflict and compulsive behaviours. It is a comprehensive and practical approach, particularly effective in the treatment of complex mental health disorders and behavioural issues – such as trauma, substance use disorder and major depression. DBT focuses on teaching four key coping skills: core mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.

    Cognitive Behaviour Therapy

Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) continues to be one of the most valued and empirically supported therapeutic options for the treatment of addiction, anxiety, phobias, depression and sleep disorders. With CBT, the emphasis is on the present, setting goals and understanding the connection between our thoughts, emotions and behaviours. Dysfunctional thinking patterns become the intervention point, from which we can develop alternative ways of thinking to increase positive feelings and healthy, helpful behaviours. There are different types of CBT, and one of our therapists will work collaboratively with you to customise the techniques, in order to meet your specific needs.

    Psychodynamic Therapy

Psychodynamic Therapy is the oldest of the modern therapies, rooted in traditional psychoanalytical theory. It is effective for a wide range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, panic disorders and stress-related physical symptoms. According to psychodynamic theory, early life experiences – which are stored in our unconscious thoughts – are extremely influential in our psychological development and functioning as adults, driving our behaviours and emotions. It is assumed that chronic problems are rooted in the unconscious mind and must be brought to light for catharsis to occur. Guided by one of our therapists, you will explore your emotions, thoughts and beliefs to identify any recurring, dysfunctional patterns that have developed over time. In identifying important pieces of the puzzle that makes you who you are, you are empowered to rearrange them in ways that allow a more functional and positive sense of self to emerge. This type of therapy is suitable for individuals, couples, families or groups and can be used as a short-term or long-term therapy.

    Person-Centred Therapy

Person-Centred Therapy – also known as Rogerian Therapy – was developed in the 1940s, by Carl Rogers. It is based on the belief the everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, to fulfill their own potential. As such, the therapist’s role is not as an expert, telling you what is wrong with you and what you need to do. They are there to empower and motivate you throughout the therapeutic process and you are an equal partner in that process. Person-centred therapy is an effective approach for individuals experiencing a range of common mental health problems, including depression and anxiety. It is a non-directive, empathic approach, where the focus is on a person’s experience of themselves. The therapist is there to offer unconditional acceptance and support, to work with you to help harness your natural self-healing and ultimately reach a more congruent view of yourself.

    Music & Art Therapy

Music and Art Therapy are incredibly therapeutic and helpful for those who struggle with expressing their emotions. It is a gentle and creative approach that assists with self-discovery and / or deep-seated issues that have conditioned our behaviour over time. The creative process of producing art, whether through music, painting, sculpture or dance, can be incredibly beneficial. A specialist therapist is present during the entire session, to sensitively guide the process and offer unconditional support.

    12-Step Programme (The Minnesota Method)

White River Manor has adopted its own signature addiction, which provides a more holistic approach compared to many traditional 12-Step Programmes. Our multi-disciplinary, specialist team will work with you to create a truly individualised treatment plan, created around your personal preferences and therapeutic requirements. This may include elements from the original 12-Step Programme, if its guiding principles resonate with you. Our integrated, holistic approach – that considers the whole being: mind, body and soul – is proving to be a most effective approach to treating addiction.

    Enneagram Personality Assessment

The Enneagram is a powerful and dynamic tool for better understanding ourselves and others, based on ancient wisdom traditions. It is a personality system that aims to reveal how emotions drive our behaviours and how we engage with others in an effort to get what we want and need. The Enneagram defines nine distinct personality types, each with its own unique set of strengths, limitations, defenses, patterns of thinking, root struggles and opportunities for personal growth. An Enneagram Assessment can reveal your basic personality type and give insights into what motivates you on a very deep level. At its core, the Enneagram helps us to see ourselves at a deeper, more objective level and can be of invaluable assistance on our path to self-knowledge, personal development, spiritual transformation and healing.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

Unlike other types of therapy that focus on analysing and altering the emotions, thoughts and physical sensations that can result from trauma, EMDR therapy focuses directly on the memories themselves. It uses a combination of memory recall and therapy with guided bilateral eye movements to interrupt negative thought pathways. EMDR stimulates the brain in ways that help it to address and work through these unhealed memories – and the emotions, thoughts and body sensations attached to them – to resume normal, adaptive and healthy processing. The science underlying this process is still an area of active research, but substantial evidence supports that EMDR successfully allows us to update traumatic memories in such a way that they become associated with more positive, adaptive ones.

    Mindfulness Therapy

Mindfulness, as a general practice, is a way of becoming more fully aware of ourselves and our environment. Through mindfulness techniques we can learn to pay more attention to the present moment, where we can observe our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations – in a non-judgmental way. Mindfulness forms an integral part of Dialectical Therapy, and complements Cognitive Therapy, by creating a deeper degree of awareness. The moment of awareness is, or can become, the catalyst for change. A therapy specialist will support you in developing the necessary skills and level of self-discipline required to simply focus on the current moment. Mindfulness groups are regularly held in our gardens, to help practise and promote mindfulness techniques.

Hypnotherapy – also known as guided hypnosis – is a form of therapy that uses deep relaxation, extreme concentration and intense focus to achieve a heightened state of consciousness or mindfulness. In this trance-like state, we can turn our attention inward, to find and utilise the resources deep within ourselves that can help us make changes or regain control in certain areas of life. Hypnotherapy is typically used alongside other treatments, as a tool to help facilitate different types of therapy and medical treatments. It can be effective in aiding treatment for symptoms and conditions, including anxiety disorders, phobias, depression, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and some problem behaviours. It can also be used for pain management, weight loss, giving up smoking, sleep problems and relieving the symptoms of IBS and ADHD.

    Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy concentrates on our present and future situation, finding solutions to help us move forward as quickly as possible. As a future-oriented, goal-directed therapy it places the emphasis on finding solutions to problems rather than exploring and analysing the problems in any great depth. Through honest self-evaluation, harmful behaviours are challenged and negative beliefs are reframed into rational thoughts. Working with a therapy specialist, self-esteem is reinforced through affirmations, compliments, goal setting, gratitude and validation. While it is a time-limited therapy, the effects of solution-focused therapy are often long lasting.

    Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology (PPT) is a relatively new therapeutic approach, influenced by humanistic and psychodynamic approaches. Its core focus is on moving away from what is ‘wrong’ (or the negative aspects of an individual), instead moving towards what is good and positive. It has proven to be highly effective for people with depression and anxiety, and can be applied to children and adults. PPT helps people to explore their innate resources – physical, emotional, spiritual, and cognitive – that they already have and just need help tapping into, in positive ways. PPT focuses on the positive events and influences in life, including positive experiences (like happiness, love, and inspiration) and positive states and traits (like gratitude, resilience, optimism, and compassion). It teaches us the power of shifting our perspective, which can lead to astounding shifts in wellbeing, a greater sense of inner balance and in maximising our potential for happiness.

Cathartic, Process and Didactic Group Therapy

Group Therapy introduces a dynamic opportunity, presented in several interesting formats, each carefully facilitated by a professional therapist. These range from intellectually stimulating didactic lectures, to those with therapeutic themes and specialised topic groups, as well as supportive formats where individual processing is encouraged. Confidentiality is always a priority, accompanied by objectivity and a non-judgmental attitude.
