    Human Resources & Clinical Assistant

    Marné du Bruyn

Marné handles our Human Resources and acts as the clinical assistant to the therapeutic team.

Marné is a perfect fit for the team at White River Manor. She has exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills and a passion for resolving conflict. Best of all, her degree in Psychology and experience as a registered counsellor give Marné a deep understanding of the client journey and the clinical environment. It means Marné can easily relate to conversations between psychologists and therapists, and she understands the clinical background of clients.

It is such a bonus having Marné on the team with her multiple set of skills. She is highly adept at helping on the clinical side as well as efficiently managing all our HR. In her HR role, she is responsible for everything from leave management and recruitment interviews to disciplinary actions.

One of Marné’s extraordinary skills is her ability to manage people sensitively and with compassion. Her diplomacy and listening skills are second to none. She is investigative, a stickler for legislative detail, and loves the challenge of keeping all staff working at their best in a tight-knit team.

“I love that no two days are the same. My job is challenging, but I love it because I like thinking on my feet, and I genuinely care about what we do here.”

On the clinical side, Marné attends multi-disciplinary meetings and assists with client schedules. Working alongside the therapeutic director, Marné helps manage and facilitate client excursions. It’s one of the many parts of the role she enjoys.

“I love managing client schedules. We could have 17 or 18 clients with different arrival and departure dates, and we have to book all their sessions with a primary therapist, equine therapy and other support. It’s a puzzle to work out, keeping in mind medical appointments, psychiatry appointments, and personal training sessions. But I love the challenge that it presents. It’s very satisfying getting clients’ schedules in perfect order.”

Marné only joined White River Manor in April 2022, but we don’t know how we managed without her! In her first two months here, she implemented a personalised electronic annual leave system for our staff. She’s an absolute whizz and brilliant at multi-tasking! Since she came on board, our HR admin cogs have been serviced and fine-tuned!

Another thing we love about Marné is that she is full of surprises. In her spare time, she’s a competitive shooter. She plays the piano and loves writing poetry. She is also a passionate follower of the cooking TV series MasterChef and the Great British Bake Off – literally! She often pauses the program, dashes out to get ingredients, and cooks along, following the contestants! We wouldn’t have put shooting and baking together, but that sums up our Marné!
