Experience
Kathy is currently in private practice as a counselling psychologist in White River. She works as a consultant psychologist to White River Manor Rehabilitation Centre where she provides psychotherapy to clients who suffer with substance abuse and addiction problems, as well as burnout and wellness related issues.
After a corporate start in Unilever, she spent over a decade with JvR Africa, the largest group of consulting psychologists in Africa. There she developed her skills and passion for training and people development as Director of the Training Division, alongside building her private practise. In 2017, she relocated back to White River, her hometown, and continued to work in private practice, where she is currently specialising in individual and group therapy in the context of wellness and addiction challenges.
She is a Narrative therapist with a keen interest in her client’s life stories. She believes that telling our stories is not an end in itself, but an attempt to release ourselves from them, to evolve and grow beyond them. Stories connect the past and present to the future. Kathy has also worked in the Career Pathing field since 2004, helping her clients find meaningful work that aligns with their skills, passion and values. Kathy believes in person-centred empowering processes which drive individual initiative and growth, leading to fulfilling relationships and a life filled with meaning.
The stories we live and tell provide coherence and meaning and orientate our sense of purpose.
